The Institute received the following grants in the first quarter of 1998. The staff and Board of Directors wishto express our deepest appreciation to these foundations and organizations for their genuine interest in andsupport of our efforts on behalf of Michigan's communities.
• From the Dyer-Ives Foundation, $5,000 to establish an ecosystem-based land use plan for oil and gas
development along the Lake Michigan coast.
• From the Michigan Environmental Council's Land Stewardship Initiative, $2,260 to support the Great
Lakes Bulletin.
• From the Michigan Environmental Council, $100 to improve Internet access.
